New Group - Momentum

MOMENTUM is a new group which has been created by Vikki Carson (ADAPT Outreach Worker and member of the REACH Hospital Liaisons Addictions Team) to assist people in their recovery journey.

While many people start drinking alcohol or using substances as a way to self medicate and relieve anxiety, these behaviours can lead to problems in many of areas of life.

The group aims to support people by developing healthier coping skills and to provide individuals with new tools to manage high risk situations.

One approach Momentum takes is utilising elements of psycho-education relating to anxiety, depression and also by examining unhealthy coping strategies which may have developed, some beginning as far back as childhood and are now detrimental to recovery but difficult to change. 

Momentum offers a safe space to receive support from peers and trained facilitators.

The group takes place at the FASS/ADAPT office, 24 Hill Street, Kirkcaldy on a Thursday evening from 6pm to 7:30pm.
